Senior Product Manager
Responsibilities:
The Senior Product Manager will be tasked with guiding and augmenting a new R&D initiative to explore how data will be managed in tomorrow’s virtual data center. The role requires an individual with strong leadership, partnering and analytical skills who can lead a team and create a shared vision for VMware’s data management direction; foster a vibrant ecosystem; help build products from existing ideas; and help develop new ideas based on industry experience and contacts with partners and prospects. The ideal candidate possesses a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. He/she must enjoy spending time with customers to understand their challenges and needs, enjoy spending time with core engineering teams to find innovative and practical solutions. He/she should demonstrate a proven ability to align product direction with company directions. Exceptional project management, organizational, communication and presentation skills must be demonstrated. Good interpersonal skills required to facilitate positive working relationships with the engineering and sales team, customers and partners.
Responsibilities include:
• Guiding and augmenting a world-class product development team
• Contributing to the definition of the next-generation product
• Managing the product development process from inception to product launch
• Aligning with the overall company goals and vision, and creating positioning and messaging across the domain
•Deliver web content, whitepapers, and demonstrations to drive adoption, and ensure technical alignment with key partners
Requirements:
• At least 4-7 years of experience in product management in relevant software domain
• BA/BS required, in Computer Science or related technical degree preferred
• MS or MBA desirable
• Strong analytical and synthesis skills, high intellectual power
• Excellent listening, oral and written communication/presentation skills with strong ability to influence people at all levels and in various functions
• Experienced in interacting with customers
• Strong awareness of technology trends and potential influence on VMware’s business
• Strong teaming skills and experience to bring together diverse views

Requirements:
- Bachelor/Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent from a reputable university
- 10+ years of industry experience
- Hands-on experience shipping production software
- Experience at a technology startup a plus
- Very solid design and development experience in distributed systems and at least one of below areas:
database, database management; cloud computing, cloud management system
- Strong coding skills in Java and modern development frameworks
- Experience with C/C/++ a plus
- Outstanding problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills in both Chinese and English
- Comfortable developing for the Windows and/or Linux environments
