Job Description:
Responsible for leading and directing the research in audiovisual
multimedia processing, especially in the research of video compression
algorithms and their implementation. Propose new research directions in
the latest standard-compliant video compression algorithms and novel
algorithms proposed for the next-generation compression standards.
Advise Corporate Research Center management in the field of expertise.
Contribute to the formulation of the Corporate Research vision and
strategy. Initiate and maintain a network with centers of excellence
(universities, institutes, and industry research centers) to exchange
information, set up co-operative programs, and help recruiting.
Qualification:
Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in electrical
engineering or computer science and 5+ years experience in the related
video compression field. Must have continued to conduct research
projects in the field in previous jobs. Be familiar with or participated
in standardization process of new audio/video compression formats. Must
have a detailed understanding of compression tradeoffs. The position
requires the individual to direct independent research and development
to enable multimedia content delivery over evolving broadband networks.
Must be a self-starter and capable of setting research directions for
new technologies relating to video streaming and downloading
applications on IP packet-based networks. A general knowledge of
hardware and software platforms for processing multimedia content is
highly desirable. Good communication skill in English is a must.
