I agree with your points too." How good your English is, how successful you will be in US."
However, professional training is helpful but not that critical.
As my knowledge, (To my knowledge, or As far as I know, ) both culture and language are very important for Chinese to mingle into this society and build your network. How do you learn these? The key is through your friends and life. My American student life (My student life in America) didn't provide me pure American life.I had to adopt (adapt) myself to them, while (no need for this word "while" here) not vice versa. Indeed, It is not always pleaseant(the word is spelled wrong). But I am tough. LOL
I had (why do you use past tense here?) friends all around the world. Some of them placed (?) huge influence on my point of views towards this world. We had a lot of deep professional or personal conversations and I valued their insights. It is them who made the process improved by leaps and bounces (wrong word?). I am willing to show my grateness (I am very grateful) to them.
Well, hanging around with (seems there is no need for this word "with" here) Americans is a personal choice, a way you live a life in US . In another word (In other words), it is a state of mind of absorbing the quintessences of America.
