Position and Person Specification: General Manager, Zhong Shan China
The Company
C-Level China has been retained confidentially to find a General Manager for a major division of a large privately held American company. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, successful General Manager with a strong lean manufacturing orientation and experience in me<x>tal fabrication and assembly. The company is located in Zhong Shan China, headquarters are in Taiwan and the parent company is in Chicago, Illinois. Its products include products ba<x>sed on wire grid, fabricated me<x>tal tubing and stampings. The GM will be responsible for one of the two company divisions with approximately 1000 employees. The company products are sold in Asia, North America and Europe.
The Opportunity
This position reports to the Company President, ba<x>sed in Taipei. It will have P & L responsibilities for all manufacturing and commercial activities for the Division in Asia. The position’s chief responsibilities are to plan and execute the division’s growth through optimizing people development and retention, plant quality and output, sales, and product development all of which is directed at meeting customer needs. Additionally, major emphasis will be placed on cost reduction utilizing lean manufacturing techniques and 80/20 principles. Finally, the General Manager will develop, recommend and bear responsibility for annual budgets of all Division operations.
Required Background
Ideal candidate is a seasoned General Manager with strong experience in China in me<x>tal and wire fabrication, ideally in industries serving retail and consumer product end users. Primary skill set should be in lean operations with good sales/marketing experience.
Must haves:
Appropriate engineering degree from a recognized university, graduate degree helpful
Excellent Mandarin and English language skills, Cantonese fluency helpful
Successful track record as a General Manager in the PRC with a western invested company
Self confident team pla<x>yer with excellent leadership and multi-cultural skills
Strong people management skills, record of job stability and promotion and upward potential
Track record of implementing process improvements through lean manufacturing and quality systems
Background in fabricated me<x>tal and mixed material products including plating, powder coating and me<x>tal surface treatment or related industries
Strong customer interface skills and experience with custom and new product development
High degree of integrity and determination to produce quality products
Compensation
An attractive and competitive compensation and incentive package will be provided. Note that this is not an expatriate position or package; it is a local hire resident position. Relocation within China will be considered. Housing in Zhong Shan may be provided.
