野蛮人的说法，出自《共产党宣言》，想想就知道了这么个宣言，会说中国人是野蛮人，活化石吗？有这个误会是因为把长城和野蛮人联系在一起了。先看看渣中渣翻译是怎么翻的。
资产阶级，由于一切生产工具的迅速改进，由于交通的极其便利，把一切民族甚至最野蛮的民族都卷到文明中来了。它的商品的低廉价格，是它用来摧毁一切万里长城、征服野蛮人最顽强的仇外心理的重炮。它迫使一切民族如果它们不想灭亡的话──采用资产阶级的生产方式；它迫使它们在自己那里推行所谓文明制度，即变成资产者。一句话，它按照自己的面貌为自己创造出一个世界。
再看看德文版：
Die Bourgeoisie reißt durch die rasche Verbesserung aller Produktionsinstrumente, durch die unendlich erleichterten Kommunikationen alle, auch die barbarischsten Nationen in die Zivilisation. Die wohlfeilen Preise ihrer Waren sind die schwere Artillerie, mit der sie alle chinesischen Mauern in den Grund schießt, mit der sie den hartnäckigsten Fremdenhaß der Barbaren zur Kapitulation zwingt. Bourgeois zu werden. Mit einem Worte, sie schafft sich eine Welt nach ihrem eigenen Bilde.
看德文中的“长城”用的只是“比喻”，为何这么说，因为德文用的是复数，alle chinesischen Mauern，“一切的长城们，”，中文不通，就翻译成一切万里长城了。实际上该翻译成，“一切铜墙铁壁”。
说我强词夺理？再看看英文，也没出现“the Great Wall” ，因为比喻，意译了，水平在中文翻译之上。
