Project Coordinator Position
SHANGHAI

PMgmt workload is measured by multiple parameters including PST data, project and protocol counts as well as the complexity of the overall portfolio. Protocols/projects continue to grow and current PST workload values are at record levels.
The target workload for Global PMgmt remains at 12.8 protocol equivalent, shifting to a lower protocol/PM ratio to accommodate increased service level expectations by PMs (PM 2 year excellence plan). Thus, we not only have to keep pace with new work but gain capacity in order to meet these new workload targets.
Additionally PMgt resources are required for the following initiatives:
o Extension of PMgmt in Asia Pacific
o Project Management Excellence
This position is in line with the forecasted growth of the business in that region of the world. A necessity to transfer projects from Indy or GVA to Asia Pacific is demonstrated by the large number of existing projects and its ongoing increase. There are currently at least 600 projects in the Asia Pacific region, including Oceania and no more than 40 protocols are scheduled to start by the end of 2009. The team is currently composed of 7 PCs/PMs (2 in China and 5 in Singapore, 2 PC to start in July) and cannot take care of all existing or new projects. More specifically, an additional resource in Shanghai will enable PMgmt to support the growing number of CL studies in China and in rest of Asia, if needed per protocol. Chinese local clients are expressing strong needs and expectations to have a local Chinese PM understanding local culture, business and being able to communicate in a timely manner.
The Project Coordinator is responsible for their specific area of the world, acting local lyas the appointed Liaison between Covance Central Laboratory Services (CCLS) and Sponsor representatives, to ensure the successful Management of local study responsibilities.
Regular communication is essential with the appointed Global Project Manager who is accountable for the entire protocol.
This position must be in compliance with the CCLS global project management strategy and deliver outstanding customer satisfaction and performances.
Act as local liaison between assigned Sponsor Representatives and the appropriate local CCLS platform.
Assist the local implementation of Global Projects closely collaborating with the Global Project Manager in charge
Provide local assistance and input to the Global Project Manager(s) to ensure local feasibility of the project from the set-up to closure.
Partner with assigned Global Project Manager(s) to effectively perform study management duties and develop local studies specificities.
Responsible, with the Global Project Manager, for the review of the SOW (Statement of Work) toensure local feasibility, making appropriate recommendations.
Manage day-to-day local study related activities, keeping the Global Project Manager informed of any study development.
Monitor, track and provide resolution to all local studies issues or complaints ,keeping the Global Project Manager in the communication loop.
Responsible for implementing monitoring and setting up of local performance metrics and taking corrective action(s) when needed
Participate in Project Managers Meetings and provide input, keeping our processes up to date.
Comply with CCLS global project management strategy.
Support a culture of continuous improvement, quality, and productivity.
Education: Two to four (2-4) year degree or equivalent (scientific preferred).
Experience: Demonstrated strong presentation skills. Demonstrated teamwork, planning & organizing skills. Demonstrated attention to detail and precision. One-year experience working in Covance CLS Project Management or relevant department or equivalent. Formal training and coaching education and experience. Previous project coordination experience. Previous training experience Demonstrated strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Chinese native, & English (fluent)Other Asian language as an asset
