COMPANY
Our client is a telco equipment vendor focusing on enterprises. It offers enterprise customers with innovative network infrastructure products, services and solutions that deliver the security, productivity and adaptability benefits required by Global 2000 organizations.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The position will report to the President of A/P, and through him to Executive VP, Worldwide Sales and Services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
His accountabilities will include:
To develop and implement the overall Greater China marketing and sales plan to achieve sales and profit targets for Greater China.
To identify appropriate sales opportunities, drive key customer relationships and lead commercial negotiations where applicable.
To keep abreast of current trends, economic conditions and growth opportunities as well as monitor and advise management of competitive activities in Greater China.
To train and develop a highly skilled and motivated local team, improve their bandwidth, and to imbue the work force with a strong and spirited healthy culture in order to increase effectiveness and drive for desired performance
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate for this position should be a fluent Mandarin speaker, with an initimate first hand understanding of Chinese business and family cultures, and a proven track record of success in the China telecom market. Ideally the finalist should have prior experience in managing another telecom equipment vendor.
In addition to industrial knowledge and functional competence, personality and leadership qualities are essential for this position. The China Country Manager should be an effective business and team builder, who can provide the leadership and communicate long- and short-term goals throughout the organization. He needs to be not only strategic in setting goals but also hands-on in implementing and achieving business plans and objectives. He will be positively forceful in making an impact and yet tactful enough in dealing with intricate and sensitive organization and people issues.
The individual must have the maturity and stature to be able to deal with senior government officials and technocrats from government bodies, such as MII in China, with confidence and presence. He will have strong personal qualities to be able to quickly gain the respect of those he comes into contact with, including his subordinates, his PRC counterparts, as well as his North American colleagues within the company.
Finally, in so far as the position will be vested with considerable authority and autonomy, the appointee must have integrity and an ethical standard which is beyond reproach.
