COMPANY Our client is one of the world's largest distributors of electronic components and computer products and a leading provider of services to the electronics industry. With 2003 sales of over $8.6 billion, our client has emerged as the industry’s driving force after a highly successful program of acquisition and global expansion. Headquartered in the US, our client serves as a supply channel partner for more than 600 suppliers and 175,000 original equipment manufacturers, contract manufacturers, and value-added resellers through more than 200 sales facilities and 23 distribution centers in 40 countries and territories.
As a subsidiary of the parent company, our client is one of the leading electronic component distributors in the Asia Pacific region. In addition to its regional headquarters in Hong Kong, our client operates 36 sales offices, 2 primary distribution centres and 4 local warehouses in 11 countries/territories across Asia. Providing a full range of semiconductors, passive, electromechanical and connectors products from over 60 leading international suppliers, our client serves more than 10,000 original equipment and contract manufacturers and commercial customers in Asia Pacific.
Today, the emergence of large worldwide manufacturers has made it possible for our client’s customers to design and develop products in one location and move production to another region. Leveraging on vast IT and data resources, the team provides advanced information through local sales and marketing teams when production is planned for their locations. This calls for close cooperation between our client’s suppliers, the marketing, sales and internal logistics/support teams in quoting and inventory resources required to provide seamless service across multiple regions. In no other region is this manufacturing migration more evident than in Asia Pacific. This region is now the world’s fastest growing electronics manufacturing market, accounting for close to 40 percent of the $200 billion components purchasing worldwide.
Our client has performed well in Asia, with organic growth averaging a CAGR of 30% over the last 10 years. However, the business dynamics and drivers in Asia will continue mature as the Asian market grows. Customers will become more and more sophisticated in their requests for broad line card offering and supply chain value added services Particularly, China will continue to emerge as a key growth initiative for our client. After conducting an extensive 3 year Strategy Study for the Asia Pacific region, our client is positioning itself for rapid growth in the region. The 2003 organization of 1000 employees and US$820 million sales revenue is forecasted to treble in size by 2006 as our client pursues the vision of being the Clear #1 provider of products, services and solutions in Asia.
