Planning Resource Profile:
The resources should have between 2-5 years experience of IP networking in a mission critical Cisco environment preferably in a financial or large ISP environment. In addition this should be backed up by vendor professional certifications (CCIP / CCNP / CCDP). As a minimum associate level certification (CCNA) with partial professional certification with a well proven track record could be considered. Ideally the candidates should be very familiar with Change Management, IP Network Implementation, Troubleshooting and NOC support procedures in a large ISP, finance or banking environment.

Responsibilities:
In response to specific internal and client orders, plan, own and deliver accurate documented IP network solutions for Service Provider Global IP networks, specifically IP networks to existing SP standards and templates.
Work closely with local / regional planning and implementation groups to provide end to end ownership and solutions within agreed criteria and times-scales for all network change activities
Ensure all planning is recorded and the relevant databases are kept up to date.
Ensure technical compliance with design standards and planning rules.
Learn and keep up to date with, and work within the Engineering change control processes and procedures, utilizing the necessary tools, specifically OMS and Click scheduler.
Skills and Experiences
Educated to degree level or equivalent with a strong Technical background. Experience in communicating at the appropriate level across different cultures with all levels of staff is required. The ability to cope with and an experience of working in a demanding and challenging environment
(require a suitable mix of the following to meet the key results area and objectives)
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
2 to 5+ years of IP networking experience over WAN’s.
Knowledge of TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP4, RIP v2, and other transports.
IP Network Management SNMP, Openview, RMON, OSS/BSS Systems
Addressing. Variable length subnetting, route aggregation.
Quality of service (QoS). Diffserv and Cisco's CBWFQ in particular.
MPLS, IP Multicast, NAT, Ethernet, Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet.
Experience of Cisco and Bay routers (Cisco CCNP/CCIP qualifications preferred CCNA minimum requirement)
Security technologies (router traffic filtering, firewalls, TACACS, Intrusion Detection systems, etc).
layer 2 Wan technologies.
Frame Relay, ATM, and POS 2 switching Technologies.
layer 1 Interface standards
X21/449/RS530, DS1/E1 DS3/E3, OC-3/Sonet/SDH, Channel Techniques.
Lan switching technologies.
