Sony makes good to excellent laptop nowadays...What you said was true a few years ago. One reason Sony is doing better is that Dell and IBM (Lenovo) are not as good as before.
SZ is very good as a biz machine where TZ is great for travel and casual use. Some of the features are very unique and useful such as dual graphic cards, LED ba<x>sed screen, Trust platform for security, fiber casting case (very light and strong), etc.
Sony PCs was very bad, especially prior to 2005. The newer models are so much better, getting good rating at cnet and PC maganize, etc.
I got a new laptop every year. 96-2003 Dells ruled, 2004 IBM T series is the best, Dell 700m in 2005 is a disaster, 2006 Sony TX and SZ were very good.
The new 07 TZ with Vista is ok, mainly due to Vista...might dump Vista to XP.
