Coz the subprime is just the start, commercial paper marker is officially dead (from aug) and we will see banks in big pain soon (if not already).
Could the bailing really work? So people can simply stop paying and figuring Uncle Sugar will always help them out? So the RS pricing will not fall further? Then isn’t it fare for normal joe to ask their money back by resetting their rate?
The prices and returns on the toxic paper were based on the composition of the pool of mortgages, the rates and repayment terms. To think the servicer can just change the terms without a default event or additional payment to the holders is crazy. They have been wrapped up, cut, and doled out to the point of being unrecognizable.
I still think there will no grace way out of this. I just need to be careful with the investing pace here and waiting for the shit storm, and hopefully make a buck or two from it. And my source told me to short every rally from RS and FI sectors, I guess we will see soon.
