France is not always like that.
Most Americans do not know how magnificant the New France once was. The city St. Louis was named just after the King Louis. The whole Mid-west was explored by Frenchmen first before Englishmen even stepped on this continent. New France once occupied 1/4 of today's Northern American continent, all key sea ports from Hudson and main inland trade depots.

Was it just the doing of two dumb Kings, or were there more geopolitical reasons? Guess that's for historians or anthropologists to debate.
