Can’t type fast enough in Chinese. So are some of my thoughts after reading this article. It really doesn’t matter what one Japanese Scholar thinks, the truth is that China is catching up, maybe slowly, but surely. Japanese slaving for Chinese Companies is just matter of time.

There are different manufactures, producing different products. Even within the same industry, there are different segments with different market focus (quality vs. value). Further more, within the same manufacture, they can differentiate their products through branding.

Some people only buy Louis Vuitton, and some only shop at Wal Mart. You’ve got to have manufactures covering both high and low end of the market. As long as Chinese manufactures are clear which market they want to be in and who their primary and secondary competitors are, there is no need to be so insecure.

If it turns out that Haire is paying too much in after-sale repair and jeopardizing their bottom line, they will turn around and re-examine which link of the production chain is causing the problem. Before then, if they can attract more consumer by their great service, good for t hem. Let them figure it out.

Then there is this pride thing… Japanese can be proud of their high quality product. That’s their image. Can’t Chinese come up with something new and more original than copycatting Japanese signature theme? Somehow I feel that improving Chinese people’s living standard and life style is more practical topic. We don’t need money to retain our pride as Chinese. Respect from other nations, however, only comes with strong economy.
