most of young fons in Shanghai were either taken over by the military, government agencies, or became the multi-family compound, like "72 families" living under the same roof. Therefore, most of them were in a bad shape after 40 years plus over-utilization. The sewage, the wires, the walls, the doors, windows, and the worst, the foundation, all need repairs or remodel. This is the last thing in the world I will spend big money on. What you are buying actually is a small piece of land in the so-called tony French colony. Sorry, I am wrong here, you are not buying but "leasing" the land for 70 years. Well, enough said. We are better off to buy a "villar" in North America. Even doing so does not mean we COMPLETELY own the premises and the land because each year if you fail to pay property tax, your nest will be gone!
