direct understanding of mine for the first one is
do not satisfy yourself easily, always ask more questions
also 肉食者鄙未能远谋so cannot let materialized possession getting in your way, you ought ot have a bigger fish to fry
the second one i believe for me would be never over estimate yourself or you will stop making the most of what you can learn from others
