This writing is misleading on two points. 1. The phenomenon it describes is not the whole picture. I have seen many western men marrying very pretty girls －－ as long as they can. In my 13 years in the US, what I have seen is, the asian girls western men are dating or married to are better looking than average.
2. Some western men now choose to marry asian girls not as pretty because they have now come to understand that pretty girls are much more insecure and difficult to live with. Western men started relationships at a much younger age than typical Chinese men. At the same age, they have experienced a lot more and understood a lot more about how the look and inner person of a girl impact a man's life and marriage. They are more rational on this matter.
