he died in 1980 in paris, born into a naval officer's family grew up with his grandparents on his mother's side as his bio father died when he was two year old. he lost sight in one eye when he was three. he majored in phylosophy and went to germany studied german phylosophies there which kinda helped to have formed his own from there
he was drafted into French military in WWII and was a POW.
his life long companion was a famous french writer too.
with such life experiences and academic trainings, he actually wrote 9 plays and thus was a famous playwriter too. perhaps the most famous one in contemporary french drama/play history. he published many works in area of phylosophies too.
he was a extremely liberal guy very left wing, and between Russian communists and the Chinese ones, he chose the latter and came to China went on to Tian An Men in 1955.
in essence, he believed in people should prove to themselves and others about the value of their own existance. cowrds were cowrds, or heros were heroes only because the people chose to play in those roles as he believe.
so if 250 thinks himself as a 250 he would act like one, but otherwise he might decides to act like a smartpant...it is all depends on how you see yourself and how do you prove to yourself that you were right...
actually, if you are interested, i would recommend you look up for other guys's works too.
somerset maugham used to be one of my favorates and lucky for us his language is english so we could read directly
but my all time favorate is henry boll, i cannot read german so i had to read chinese translation
