in texas, if you filed chapter 11, and did not re-org nor taken over by others, then within the required time, you will be closed down.
the example i gave on that oil company actually was closed down like that.
in many states, at least in 7 years you will not be allowed to operate business (as you brought financial deamages to others by closing down) but that oil company came back and became so hot...
in most cases, incoporations, (not the biz you registered with a few dollars and driver license) are what is called in china as legal person, it is separated from individuals (called natural person in china) therefore many filed backcrupcy and yet enjoy great personal assets and nice life style. the only thing
to watch out is never write business check to your home expenditures: once in bankcrupcy, the laywer/CPA from the debters will be looking for this, and if they find just one such check, legally it constitutes "piercing" ground, so your house and your cars will be taken away. you wife will leave you and your debt, you dob will bark at you because the bitch got used to the boy friend of the bitch used to be your wife...
you get the picture...you do have kids, right?!
